In 2015, I took over the ownership of Loyalist MMA; a local “fighter gym” for competitive athletes. Under Nick’s guidance, the newly reformed Loyalist Martial Arts Academy successfully expanded, rebranded, and developed a multi-sport, family friendly, all-inclusive academy specializing in high level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Women’s Only programs, as well as incredibly successful March Break and Summer Camp programs.
After a year of working under Nick’s guidance, my wife Mandy was able to leave her full-time career in customs as the full time operations manager for both the Academy, and Belleville’s Best Camps.
In 2018, I left my decade long career in the commercial flooring management industry to come on board full time too. During this time, Nick and I also hosted Belleville’s first (and only) Muay Thai show, Loyalist Fight Night, which was a huge success.
By early 2019, we had completely maxed out our original location and moved to a new space, triple the size, to accommodate our ever-growing membership base and allow us room for continuous evolution.
When the pandemic began in 2020, Nick’s support and the weekly Legacy group calls with other members helped us survive (financially and mentally) through multiple lengthy closures and the unprecedented times we all faced.
In the two years following, we grew our Academy to its most profitable and successful state of all time. In late 2023, as our family priorities shifted, we decided to sell the Academy and “retire” from small business ownership. Nick was instrumental in supporting us through this transition, and the process of choosing the best buyer. With this transition, Nick also hired Mandy as the Client Success Manager for Legacy, and the rest is history!
