THE TEAM

Nick Castiglia a.k.a. Papa Nick Castiglia founder of Legacy

Nick Castiglia

Founder & CEO

Mentor

Nick has over 21 years’ experience and has become a standout name in the martial arts industry, guiding over 100 gyms to flourish financially. His journey has seen him everywhere from the front desk to the owner’s office, proving there’s no role in martial arts he hasn’t mastered. But where Nick truly shines is business coaching, specifically for Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu schools. He uses his business savvy and deep-rooted love for martial arts to equip others with the skills to succeed and live the life they deserve. Whether he’s out on the mats teaching, creating an instructional series or coaching a martial arts academy, Nick’s passion and industry expertise is second to none.

Mandy Keller

Administrative Operations & Client Success Manager
Mandy brings real-world academy ownership experience, strong operations know-how, the art of people, and a penchant for keeping everything organized. As one of Nick’s first-ever consulting clients, she understands firsthand the challenges and rewards of running a successful martial arts academy (and all the people in it!)

Mandy served for nearly a decade as the Manager of Operations at Loyalist Martial Arts Academy in Belleville, ON. Alongside her husband, Tim, she helped grow the Academy into one of the largest and most successful gyms in southeastern Ontario with over 300 members. During this time, she led day-to-day operations and developed a highly successful kids camp and special events programming that became cornerstones of the local community. In 2023, they sold the Academy, retired from small business ownership, and Mandy began a new chapter with Legacy.

In addition to her experience in the world of martial arts school operation, Mandy was formally educated in print journalism and media studies, and is learning two languages (French, and American Sign Language)
Legacy Martial Arts coach Jake Charette

Jake Charette

Mentor

Jake Charette has spent more than two decades training in martial arts, but his core expertise is in building systems, growing academies, and creating operational structure that produces real results. When Jake stepped into a management role at Limitless BJJ, he leaned fully into Legacy’s frameworks: lead flow, intake, follow-up, curriculum structure, culture building, and operations. Over 18 months, he used these systems to drive consistent membership growth, stabilize retention, and create a predictable daily and weekly rhythm inside the school.
Jake also played a key role in expanding the gym’s reach into the community. By applying Legacy’s community-partnership and contract strategy, he secured major wins such as a $50,000 year-long military wellness contract and recurring annual training partnerships with both police and paramedic services. These weren’t accidental opportunities, they were the result of clear systems, consistent follow-up, and relationship-building rooted in professionalism and reliability.
Outside the gym, Jake leads Dynamic Control Tactics, a company specializing in curriculum development, instructor training, and operationally focused control-tactics programs for military, police, EMS, hospitals, and private security. DCTactics is built on the same structured and accountable approach that Jake applied in the academy: clear systems, measurable outcomes, and training that prioritizes safety, communication, and practicality. The work bridges two worlds: gym operations and real-world organizational training.
Jake now brings this combined experience into his role as a Legacy coach. He helps school owners implement the systems that shaped his own success:
• Streamlined intake and follow-up processes
• Structured BJJ program growth
• Operational and staffing systems
• Community partnership and contract development
• Financial clarity and forecasting
• Culture and leadership development
Jake’s coaching style blends empathy, accountability, and simple, repeatable action steps. His focus is helping owners build a school, and a lifestyle that is sustainable, profitable, and aligned with their mission.
Whether it’s refining operations inside a martial arts academy or building large-scale safety programs for frontline professionals, Jake’s work centers on one principle: clear systems create predictable success. Through Legacy and DCTactics, he continues to help teams, owners, and organizations build structures that last.
Legacy Coach Steve Poulin owner and founder of submission academy

Steve Poulin

LMA Coach – Owner, Submission Academy

A distinguished second-degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu, has been immersing himself in the martial art world for over 20 years. Trained under the legendary Renzo Gracie and Pat Cooligan, his wealth of experience led to the establishment of The Submission Academy in 2010. Starting modestly by subletting space from another martial arts institution, the academy has grown exponentially since then. As the success of the gym continued to soar, Steve started exploring diversified avenues to generate additional income. Alongside his wife, Jane, they utilized capital from the academy to invest in the real estate sector, now proud owners of two investment properties in addition to their residence.

Omar Kadi

Mentor

Introducing Omar Kadi, a true embodiment of resilience, who embarked on an inspiring journey from Syria to the United States during childhood. Coming from a modest background, he quickly imbibed the importance of hard work and determination. Omar’s path to success began as a dish washer at his uncle’s restaurant, where he cultivated a strong work ethic and a profound sense of responsibility.

Despite the hurdles he faced, Omar’s unwavering determination led him to become a thriving entrepreneur today. From owning cell phone stores, credit card processing, and ATM services, he has ventured into various successful entrepreneurial endeavors. Alongside his business pursuits, Omar’s passion for Jiu Jitsu has been an integral part of his life, dedicating 13 years to mastering the discipline.

When the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the gym industry, Omar saw an opportunity to pursue his dreams and opened his own Martial Arts Academy. Leveraging his experience working closely with Nick Castigllia and his expertise in sales and business, he embraced the challenge of running a gym with confidence and tenacity. Today, Omar’s inspiring journey continues to impact others through his unwavering determination, discipline, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Notably, Omar’s journey includes running two successful gyms that have become NYC staples, boasting over 600 members in 2.5 years. As a highly accomplished and respected Jiu Jitsu black belt, Omar received his black belt from the legendary Marcelo Garcia, earned after winning the World Master Championship three years in a row. Not only does he continue to compete in Jiu Jitsu, but Omar also nurtures up-and-coming talent, including his 16-year-old son, who recently had an exceptional performance submitting all his opponents in two of the biggest BJJ tournaments, Worlds and Pans.
